A New Me in 2023. This is the year I make a major decision. I am taking a new direction. Will I rest in my present circumstances or wrestle with what I want? This is difficult for women where most areas of life are within their control. They go and come as they please. They enjoy a good measure of financial security. They run their own businesses and own their own homes. To accomplish all of this alone, takes a certain amount of wrestling. My Virtuous Sisters, I empathize with the “Self-help” wrestle with home repairs, car maintenance and lawn care. But when it comes to our spiritual life and pleasing God, He looks for resting as opposed to wrestling. Our scripture today clearly outlines the resting position God wants us to enjoy.
But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired. (Isaiah 40:31 AMP)
I will know when I am no longer waiting with expectation and hope for the Lord when I begin to feel weary and tired. I will know when I am no longer resting in the Lord when I have no strength nor power and instead of rising close to God I am dragging the ground. See Self-Sabbatical Blog for details on ways to self care.
But when it comes to our spiritual life and pleasing God, He looks for us to be resting as opposed to wrestling.

- What lessons can we learn from the eagle wings today?
- Where in life are we wrestling rather than resting in the power of God?
- How can we move from self reliance to God dependence?
- What changes are we willing to make today to make this happen?
Have fun with these questions today as you sit with the Lord in quiet contemplation. I am looking forward to my quiet time with Him today. I am expecting to come away soaring in peace, resting in His love. Why don’t you join me.
““Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, jand you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls. For My yoke is easy [to bear] and My burden is light.””
Matthew 11:28-30 AMP
